Alana Dasent, Director of Synergy's South Florida office, has a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and a bachelor's degree from Howard University. After practicing as a prosecutor and civil lawyer, Alana became the Director of the Career Services offices for both the University of Miami School of School of Law and St. Thomas University School of Law respectively. Kirsten Dodd, National Director of Recruiting and Director of Synergy's North and South Carolina offices, is originally from Charleston, South Carolina, and obtained a BA in Sociology and MS in Applied Sociology from Clemson University. Prior to joining Synergy, Kirsten gained legal experience as a paralegal with Motley, Rice f/k/a Ness, Motley, Loadholt, Richardson and Poole in Charleston and as a research analyst with the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts in Annapolis, Maryland. Melissa Johnson, Director of Synergy's Houston office, brings extensive legal staffing experience to her position. Melissa graduated from University of Houston Law Center and began her legal career as an associate with a large downtown law firm, Winstead, Sechrest and Minick where she practiced commercial litigation for 6 years. She left the practice of law to open the Houston office for the Wallace Law Registry, which is now known as Kelly Services. Melissa eventually left Kelly Services to raise her three children.  Krissy Anderson, Director of Synergy’s Chicago office, is originally from
Rock Island, Illinois, and obtained a JD and MS in Sports Administration
from St. Thomas University and a BS in Psychology from the University of
Illinois. Prior to joining Synergy, Krissy practiced as a family law
attorney and also spent considerable time working on various document
review projects in the Chicago market, thus gaining first-hand knowledge
on how the legal staffing industry operates. When she’s not working
Krissy enjoys playing recreational sports, watching sports, and traveling

 Matt Pordum, Director of Synergy's New York and Washington, D.C. offices, is originally from Long Island, NY and obtained a BA in English and Education at Florida State University. Prior to joining Synergy, Matt has a long and distinguished career as a legal journalist, having worked for American Lawyer Media, Court TV and the Las Vegas Sun and covering the U.S. Supreme Court, among other things. He has also dabbled in film production work, and is known as a rabid fan of the New York Jets, Mets, Knicks and Florida State Seminoles. Contact Matt at

Synergy’s President and CEO, Karen J. Pordum, has over 20 years experience in the legal community, with ten years in the legal staffing industry. A graduate of Hofstra University and Brooklyn Law School, Karen practiced commercial litigation with two large New York law firms, most recently, at Thacher, Proffitt & Wood. After leaving private practice, Karen ran national sales and marketing for, and was the Senior Vice President of, two of the country’s largest national legal staffing firms. She has also provided business development and marketing consulting services to legal service providers around the country.
